DEVLOG #4- Winter Update
Hello USERS!
And a Happy New Year to all of you.
A lot has happened for Athendom over the past few months.
We’ve got a lot more hands on deck working on different fields on the team and all of them just ooze with talent in what they do!
It’s always a shocker when they manage to perfectly capture every concept exactly the way I thought it out.
With the growing size of the team, I’ve been tasked with writing a full Developer Diary for them which, while taking up a lot of time managing the whole process, has allowed me to really THINK about the whole game feel in different aspects: the atmosphere, the gameplay, and even the writing.
On multiple occasions I had “Aha” moments while writing the diary that helped me really get the story running properly in a way that is always cohesive and never really gets convoluted.
At of the beginning of conceptualizing the game last year, I already knew how I wanted the whole story to go and how Episode One would set up the rest of the plot properly. Now while writing the diary I can properly pick apart the full script to fit the narrative perfectly.
Never have I been as confident in the writing of my work before as I am with Athendom and I hope that all of you will really get sucked into the story and let yourselves get as attached to this world as I have.
And what better way to fall into a piece of media than to contribute to it?
In the first week of December 2024, I announced in the Crowmurder Discord server that I’d be hosting an Athendom Winter Art Contest and all the artists who participated blew it out of the park!
All of their pieces were so amazing... it’s a Christmas miracle that Fillaneo didn’t snack on them all...
Of course, though all of the art pieces were mind-blowing—and I have a personal bias toward any work of art with my characters in it—there was one artist whom I had to crown the winner of the Winter Art Contest and this is what they came up with!
A lot has been done with the team. With different tasks being given to different members we’ve established the strong points of all the members so you know that they’re giving their all... and their all is just what the project needs.
We’re still setting up the foundation but the more we do, the faster the foundation is laid and the rest of the project will be a lot easier to produce.
A spot opened up on the team as well. The spriters have been doing quite a job with the tiles and overall interpretation of my sketches... which is no easy feat because, over my time of learning and honing my skills in pixel art, I have forgotten how to draw traditional art.
It’s quite jarring when every little line isn’t made in a grid...
Because of this I’m looking to recruit a Concept Artist for the team as I realize I no longer cut it.
Anyone who wants to volunteer for the position can apply right HERE and join the Discord! Even if you don’t want to join the dev team we’re stoked to meet you!
That’s about all I have to share with you all for now.
I hope we get to see more of you this year... and you’ll definitely see a lot more of us!
Till next time, Licco, Crowmurder Dev.
